Gidani to offer Lottery
Tickets via Phone Banking and ATMs
July
29 -
South African National Lottery
operator Gidani (Pty) Ltd has announced that
South Africans will soon be able to purchase lotto tickets using
cell phone banking, ATMs and online banking
using a high-tech gaming platform provided by Intralot, a world
leader in integrated
lottery gaming and transaction processing systems.
The
new National Lottery facilities are reportedly live for
customers of First National Bank
(FNB), who can purchase lottery tickets quickly and easily over
their cell phones, logged in online or at ATMs as of now.
The new lottery service is expected to be rolled out to all
other major South African banks in the near future.
Said
Gidani
chairman and CEO, Dr. Bongani Aug Khumalo, 'During the latter
part of this year,
Gidani will introduce many new and exciting National Lottery
facilities every other month.
This is part of the commitment we made almost two years ago
promising South Africans a national lottery like no other
in the world.'
After the South African Government,
Greece-based Intralot is the largest shareholder of Gidani
through its subsidiary, Intralot Interactive.
Gidani took over from Uthingo Management (Pty) Ltd as the
National Lottery operator in October 2007. Since then, it has
been trying to
increase public interest in the South African National Lottery.
Said Intralot S.A. CEO, Constantinos Antonopoulos, 'We
are very pleased that South Africa will too be able to benefit
from our state-of-the-art gaming platform, B-On.
With these new purchasing channels now available in South
Africa, the
National Lottery will now be able to raise even more money for
Good Causes.'
