Online Gambling
Degree to be Offered by UK University
August 14 - In recognition of the fact that the global online
gambling market is growing in leaps and bounds, Nottingham Trent
University in England is offering the UK's first specialised
'online gambling' degree, a cyberpsychology degree.
Set to kick off in October, Nottingham Trent University's cyberpsychology degree will be open to all post graduates and will cover
topics including artificial intelligence, cyber crime, education issues, health
issues and social networking in relation to online gambling.
Said course director, Dr Monica Whitty, 'Over the last decade, research into cyberpsychology has grown dramatically and with that in mind, we decided to
offer a degree in it. The course has been designed to be academically
challenging and incorporates all facets of online gambling.
'It will aim to develop an understanding of how people respond to and operate
within cyberspace, and prove valuable to both employers who use digital technologies
as well as those who mediate its use,' she said.
The cyberpsychology degree is expected to attract a high number of students who
want to learn more about this dynamic and lucrative industry and, once
they've earned their degree, wish to seek out online gambling-related positions in the United
Kingdom, Europe and even further afield.
'We expect that our cyberpsychology degree will go down well
with students who intend to incorporate Information and
Communication Technologies (ICT) into their own businesses, as
well as those who want to integrate it into other employment or
educational avenues,' said Dr Whitty.
