Playtech Signs Deal with
French Online Poker Site
June
3 -
Consolidation is key in online gambling,
where larger companies snap up or enter into symbiotic joint
ventures with other online gambling firms
to increase their global reach.
Take
online gambling software giant Playtech,
which recently signed a full licensing deal with
French poker room, Chilipoker.
The
licensing deal
- which will ensure that Chilipoker becomes a direct licensee to
Playtech - seems to be
a 'win win' for both companies.
Playtech will get to increase its foothold and market share in
the
lucrative French online gambling market,
while Chilipoker will now be better placed with
Playtech.
Formerly a sub licensee of Playtech,
the French online poker room
has grown into one of the
most successful and popular
online gambling sites in France.
In fact, it also recently signed a deal with France's second
biggest ISP to
promote its brand and provide its online poker services
to over 12 million users.
Last year the French online gaming firm
signed a three-year deal with the World Poker Tour
regarding the broadcasting of its events in Marrakech, Morocco,
and announced its
lucrative sponsorship of the World Poker Congress.
Plus this
new deal with Playtech will only cement Chilipoker's reputation
in France and abroad.
Said Playtech CEO Mor Weizer, 'We are delighted to have
consolidated our relationship with Chilipoker. The
French gaming market offers huge potential
for gaming operators, and we'll be looking closely at
establishing our foothold here in
advance of the gambling regulation
coming into force next year.'
