Ray Rahme Wins
2008 All Africa Poker Tournament
June 4 - One of South Africa's top professional poker players,
Ray Rahme, won the 2008 All Africa Poker Tournament last weekend
at the Piggs Peak Hotel & Casino in Swaziland, an impressive
feat considering he is also last year's All Africa Poker
champion.
After winning the 2007 All Africa Poker Tournament, Rahme earned
himself a seat at the prestigious World Series of Poker (WSOP)
Main Event in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he stunned the poker
world by finishing in third place and taking home a cool
$3,048,025.
It seems that 63-year-old Rahme's poker skills and luck are
still holding out, as he put in a sterling performance to walk
away with the 2008 All Africa Poker Tournament title, and
not-too-shabby R1 million first prize plus an automatic entry
into the 2008 WSOP in June this year.
'This was definitely my best poker tournament so far,' said the
humble Rahme after his win at Piggs Peak.
Another notable performance at the 2008 All Africa Poker
Tournament was delivered by runner-up, Allistair Didloff. A late
entry into the tournament, Didloff showed an impressive array of
poker skills to outplay and outlast this year's tough field
comprising many of South Africa's best poker pros.
After many hours of high octane Texas Hold'em poker action, it
all came down to the nail-biting heads up between Rahme and
Didloff, but Rahme's big tournament experience and cool
demeanour came to the fore, and ensured his new reign as the
2008 All Africa Poker champion.
Ray Rahme, Didloff and the eight other All Africa Poker Tournament
final table players will all soon be heading off to Las Vegas to
compete in this year's $10,000 WSOP Main Event, undisputably the
most lucrative and prestigious land poker tournament in the
world.
