Owner Dies off Coast of Ibiza
June 30 - One of the pioneers of the online gambling world,
Warren Cloud, a thirty-something South African entrepreneur, is
thought to have suffered a heart attack early Sunday morning,
while aboard his boat just off the Spanish island of Ibiza.
In just a decade, Cloud became was one of the world's largest
and most successful Real Time Gaming online casino licensees.
His online casinos were once valued at approximately 130 million
pounds, at which point he reportedly considered listing them on
the London AIM market.
However, the listing did not go through, following speculation
that Cloud instead secured financial assistance from a wealthy
European businessman. However, with so little known about the
man that often used 'aliases' and was highly secretive, who
knows what it true and what is not.
Cloud's online casinos, including Vegas Frontier Casino, Golden
Nile Casino, Crystal Palace Casino, Lucky Coin Casino, Royal
Circus Casino, High Rollers Lounge Casino and many others,
attract tens of thousands of players and generate millions of
pounds in revenues each year.
The little that is known about Cloud is that while he had an
astute business acumen, he didn't always treat his players so
kindly.
The South African's online casinos were often involved in ugly
disputes - often 'shared' via online gambling blogs to warn
other players - that usually ended up with the player or players
involved not being paid.
The entrepreneur was often accused of 'locking' his customer's
accounts and even withholding online casino bonuses.
In recent months, however, Cloud took a lower profile in his
business, fueling speculation that he was looking to retire.
He leaves behind a wife and daughter.
