Study shows Vegas Slots
No Match for Online Slots
December
31 - According a recent report published by the Las Vegas Sun
newspaper in the gambling Mecca of Las Vegas, Nevada, Vegas
slots are much 'tighter' than their online casino
counterparts, which means slot fans are more likely to win by
playing in online casinos.
Perhaps this is not surprising considering that the overheads of
operating online casinos are far less than those needed to
operate the multi-billion dollar Las Vegas casinos. What this
means is that online casino operators can afford to make their
online slot games 'looser', or more likely to pay out.
What is a little surprising, however, is the fact that instead
of making their slot games looser to attract Americans during
the country's current tough economic climate, many Vegas casinos
have reportedly made their slots even tighter, giving the
'house' an even bigger edge over players.
This revelation has surprised many gambling experts in the
United States, as well as players themselves, who spend
thousands of dollars traveling to and staying in Las Vegas.
Anthony Curtis of the Las Vegas Advisor newsletter has this to
say, 'We have witnessed the tightening of Vegas game payouts.'
It seems that the bean counters (accountants) from many large
Vegas casino resorts have taken the view that it is better to
'milk' the players that do visit Sin City, as opposed to attract
new players to Vegas - which has been hard hit by the economic
recession - with the promise of tighter slots.
According to the Nevada Gaming Control Board, Vegas slot machine
payouts declined dramatically from 2007 to 2008.
Despite the
American online gambling ban imposed in October 2006, the number
of US-based visitors to online gambling websites are reportedly
on the increase.
